The Pine River is a Blue Ribbon Trout Stream with strains of native Brown Trout. It is a pristine and natural river, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a relaxing day of fishing.  Opening weekend is usually the last weekend in April.

We have our own river access, ponds for practice that have been stocked with bluegill and bass, and we are close to many other great fishing spots along the river. We are also only ten minutes away from Tippy Dam in Wellston, which offers some great fishing…salmon, steelhead and much more!! Boat Rentals are available at Tippy Dam.

Cadillac, which is only 25 minutes east of Coolwater Camp, offers 2 great fishing lakes…Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell, both of which are popular fishing destinations. Charter boats, pontoon boats, jet skis are available for rent.

Lake Michigan is only 30 minutes west of Coolwater Campground and offers nice beaches and some great Fishing. There are many fishing charters in Manistee and we are happy to help you plan a great fishing outing!

We have two ponds that are great to show the kids the basics of fishing.  They have been stocked over the years with Bluegill and some Bass.  They are great for the kids or just to have a little practice before hitting the river!
