Pine River Area Activities & Links

Northern Michigan is full of outdoor recreation and the Cadillac area is at the heart of it all. There are activities for every season!

Fishing – The Pine River is a Blue Ribbon Trout Stream with native strains of rainbow and brown trout. We are located 10 minutes from Tippy Dam(some great Salmon fishing), and only 20 minutes from Lake Cadillac & Mitchell. Lake Michigan is located 30 minutes west of Coolwater. Ponds available for practice fishing! Opening day is last weekend of April.

Canoe/Kayak – The Pine River is one of the most exciting rivers in Michigan!  There are numerous other rivers to paddle nearby…Big & Little Manistee Rivers, Pere Marquette.   Click here for more info on the Pine River.

Biking – There are nearby mountain bike rentals and some great trails to ride!  The Big M trail is a great trail and is home to the Lumberjack 100 Trail Race.

ORV – We are only 15 minutes from Lincoln Hills Trail System.  You can ride your ORV from the campground to the trail system.

Boating – Lake Mitchell & Lake Cadillac is only 20 minutes away! Charter a boat on Lake Michigan, only 30 minutes from Coolwater.  Charter a Pontoon boat at Cheryls Landing.

Hiking – There are many trails all over this area. Silver Creek trail along the Pine River, Manistee River TrailNorth Country Trail, and many others!!

Traverse City – The city is less than hour away, stay for Cherry Festival and avoid the crowds.

Area Festivals – Hoxeyville Music Festival is only 2 miles away!  Local Festivals include the Irons Flea Roast and Ox MartCherry Festival & Mesick Mushroom festivals, jazz concerts in Cadillac.

Golf – Come golf in the heart of the Manistee National Forest. Caberfae Peaks Ski & Golf Resort only 10 minutes away!

CasinoLittle River Casino in Manistee is only 30 minutes away!!

Hunting – Experience hunting in the Cadillac area!! Wildlife is abundant in this area. Spring Turkeys & Deer, Bow & Rifle Hunters Welcome.

Fall Color – We are in the heart of Northern Michigan Fall colors.  The campground, the Pine River, and the Manistee National Forest are alive with color in the Fall. Click here for Fall Color Tour Map.

Winter Camping – We are close to many snowmobile trails and only 10 minutes away from Caberfae Peaks Ski Resort.
